ABOUT
My research focuses on the political, cultural, and intellectual history of the early and classical Ottoman Empire. I am also interested in Byzantium and the larger Islamic world, particularly after the Mongol conquests. My main publication is a study of the Ottoman Civil War or Interregnum of 1402-13 (The Sons of Bayezid, Brill, 2007). I will soon be publishing an annotated English translation of the Oxford Anonymous Ottoman history (Bodleian Marsh 313). I have also been working on the medieval Alexander romance in the Ottoman Empire, as well as a larger study of the period before 1453.
