ABOUT
Iman A. Soliman, from Egypt, earned her B.A. in Englishliterature from the faculty of Al Alson, Ein Shams University in Cairo. In 2003, she received her Ph.D. in TAFL from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Iman held a number of administrative and teachingpositions in Cairo from 1984 through 1990, and in 1991, she completed the introduction to "Teacher Training Course" run by the International House in Cairo. She worked as teacher of both Egyptian colloquial and ModernStandard Arabic at the International House in Cairo from 1992 until 2001.During this period she worked as a teacher trainer, assistant director of studies, as well as the director of development and student affairs. She has written a number of the Modern Standard Arabic course and workbooks and developed several Egyptian colloquial Arabic courses.Recently (2007), she co-authored Kallemni Arabi an Intermediate Course in EgyptianColloquial Arabic. Her research interests concern AFL program evaluation aswell as Computer enhanced learning. During Iman’s stay in Edinburgh, she taught Arabic bothat the University of Edinburgh and the University of Saint Andrews. She alsotaught Arabic during summer 2004 at Middlebury College in Vermont USA. During her stay in Edinburgh, she taught Arabic both at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Saint Andrews. She alsotaught Arabic during summer 2004 at Middlebury College in Vermont USA In 2004-2005 Iman has also participated in the Educational Reform conducted by the Supreme Council of Education in Qatar and has led a number of teacher-training sessions to train the Arabic first language teachers to use the newly developed Arabic Language Standards She worked as the Executive Director of CASA (Centerfor Arabic study abroad) and curently she is Chair of the Department Arabic Language Instruction (ALI) a fulltime Arabic Instructor at the American University in Cairo. Iman obtained the Excellence in Teaching Award (2011) and excellence in academic service Award from the American University in Cairo.
