ABOUT
Umar's academic journey started at al-Azhar University, Cairo Egypt where he received his first degree in Islamic Philosophy and Theology in 2010, and then attended the University of Malaya, Malaysia for a Master of Theology program. Now, he is pursuing a Ph.D. at Columbia University, New York, working on the Islamic Intellectual History of West African Written and Discursive Traditions of Rational sciences. Before coming to Columbia, he attended the Graduate Research Training program at McGill University Montreal in 2019. Umar is an academic staff of Islamic studies, at Bauchi State University Gadau, Nigeria. He is a founder and a leader of the Qadat al-Fikr Foundation.
