I teach political theory at UC Santa Cruz. I am most interested in examining the ways that modern and contemporary Arab thinkers have theorized the formation of the modern political subject in Arab societies.
My future research traces the formation of the "subject of uprising" in the contemporary Egyptian context. For that, I plan to conduct ethnographic and historical research in the next few years.
