ABOUT
Dr. Nagel is Assistant Professor in the Department of Art History at State University of New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Born and raised in Berlin in Germany, his research focuses on the material cultures, technological developments and legacies of past cultures in Greece, Mesopotamia, Iran, and South Arabia in the modern world. Between 2010 and 2013 Dr. Nagel was curator of Ancient Near Eastern art in the Smithsonian Institution's Freer and Sackler Gallery, and remains with the Smithsonian Institution as a Residential Research Associate with the National Museum of Natural History. Dr. Nagel curated a number of successful exhibitions and research projects, focusing on the legacies of the ancient Mediterranean, Arabia, the Middle East and Central Asia in Washington, D.C.
