ABOUT
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department with a secondary field in the studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. As a social and cultural historian of North Africa and the French Empire, I study transregional slave trades in Tunis in the 18th and 19th centuries.
I hold an M.A. in History from Harvard University, and a B.A. in History and Middle Eastern Studies from Tufts University (summa cum laude, 2013). Prior to entering the graduate program, I received a Fulbright to teach in Turkey, and taught Kindergarten and First Grade, all subjects, in New Orleans, Louisiana. I also worked with youth and adult English-language learners in Hong Kong.
When I'm not teaching and researching, I'm doing actions with the Boston chapter of SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice), singing in gospel choir, watching K-dramas, writing short stories, and roller-skating.
