ABOUT
M'hamed Oualdi is a professor of history at Sciences Po-Paris. He teaches and works on the early modern and modern history of North Africa. He currently supervises a 6-year research project on the ending of slavery in the Maghreb (1750s-1930s)funded by the European Research Council. He is the author of A Slave Between Empires. A Transimperial History of North Africa (Columbia University Press, 2020)that was awarded the Alfred Hegoy Prize for the best book in French colonial history, the Honorable Mention for the 2020 Nikki Keddie Book Award and was a finalist for the 2021 African Studies Association Best Book Prize.
