Jeffery Dyer is a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department at Boston College focusing on the history of the modern Middle East and the Indian Ocean. He is writing his dissertation on the increased engagement of the Ottoman government with their southern frontiers in the Arabian Peninsula and territories throughout the Indian Ocean in the period between 1870 and World War I.
