ABOUT
Mayyada Abu Jaber has over 20 years of experience in leading strategy, organizational and international development. She is the founder and CEO of the World of Letters, (WoL), a social enterprise in the Middle East and North Africa dedicated to bridging the economic, social, and opportunity divide. Mayyada founded JoWomenomics, as an independent non-profit organization to foster mindset change towards greater women's economic participation. Earlier in her career, Mayyada was the founding CEO of the Jordan Education for Employment and served as an educational consultant at the office of Her Majesty Queen Rania Abdullah II. She is also a Brookings Institution Echidna Global Scholar for Leaders in Girls Education. She was also featured on CNN, Euro-news, and as a panelist at the Clinton Global Initiative. Mayyada’s work on youth employment was recognized by the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) as one of 15 best practices in the world for education/employment interface. Mayyada was recognized by the World Bank as an inspirational leader in the Middle East and North Africa in 2017. Mayyada is a Vital Voices Grow and Engage fellow for the years 2015 and 2020. She a recognized as education an expert at the UN-Harmony with Nature, serves as the board of trustee for INASP to improve the use, access, production of knowledge. Mayyada is the vice-chair of the Center for Environmental Ethics and Law (CEEL). Mayyada serves as an International Jury member for the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. Mayyada is currently working on a Ph.D. in Integral Development towards a Feminist Economy at the DaVinci Institute/South Africa. She received her Master's degree at Duke University.
