My research focus is in legal history of labour in the Arabian Gulf during the era of urbanization. Currently working on a masters dissertation on the political, social, and economic ramifications of Kuwaiti labour laws on foreign workers. The dissertation shall explore the validity of the exclusionary framework of the private, public and oil sectors’ labour codes. The patterns of transnational labour migration shall be mapped to investigate the trends of legal amendments to labour laws. A special attention is paid to ad hoc decisions on incarceration, deportation and other modes of foreign labour criminalization.
