ABOUT
Negin Djavaherian holds a professional M.Arch. from Azad University (Tehran, Iran), received a Post-Professional M.Arch. and, recently, a Ph.D. in the History and Theory of Architecture form McGill University. Her doctoral thesis explored architectural potential and experience in the theatre of Peter Brook. Her research interests focus on exploring theatre as a suggestive source of inspiration for architects: a ground for exploring the ethical and poetic dimensions of architecture. During her studies she conducted a series of personal interviews with Peter Brook, Arby Ovanessian, Jean-Claude Carrière, and Jean-Guy Lecat. She contributed papers to a number of international conferences and was the recipient of the Canadian Centre for Architecture-McGill Research Grant. She (along with Marc J Neveu) is a co-editor of a book “Architecture’s Appeal” dedicated to Alberto Pérez-Gómez, a leading architectural historian and theorist. In Iran, she practiced architecture working on residential, cultural, and art centers. Her long-held interest in Persian mystical poetry and Sufi mysticism led her to be part of a team that won the grand prize for a design/research project dedicated to Molãnã, a 13th century Persian mystical poet.
