ABOUT
Dr. Alvi teaches the Theater Security and National Security Decision-Making courses: Security Strategies and Policy Analysis. She has served as the Director of International Studies at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. Dr. Alvi also taught Political Science at the American University in Cairo, Egypt (2001-2005), and she has been a Fulbright Fellow in Damascus, Syria (1993-1994). Dr. Alvi's specializations include International Relations, Political Economy, Comparative Politics, Islamic Studies, and Middle East and South Asian Studies. She is proficient in Arabic and Urdu. She is the co-editor of Case Studies in Policy Making, 12th Edition, edited by Hayat Alvi and Nikolas Gvosdev (Newport: National Security Decision Making, US Naval War College, August 2010): http://www.usnwc.edu/Departments---Colleges/National-Security-Decision-Making/Documents/CaseStudiesInPolicyMaking12thEd.pdf. Her publications include numerous journal articles and these books: Regional Integration in the Middle East: An Analysis of Inter-Arab Cooperation (Lewiston, NY: Edwin Mellen Press, 2007); An Introduction to International Studies: Exploring Frontiers (Deer Park, NY: Linus Publications, 2006); and The Arabian Nights Reader (Deer Park, NY: Linus Publications, 2006). She is currently working on her next book, Nonviolent Activism in Islam: The Message of Abul Kalam Azad (Edwin Mellen Press).
