ABOUT
Scott Bursey is a social, religious, and intellectual historian of Islam and the Modern Middle East. He received his B.A in History from the University of Alberta (2015), his M.A in History from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver (2017) and is currently enrolled in a Ph.D at Florida State University’s Department of Religion (2021-). Scott’s research draws on theological, mass media, and dark web sources to trace the changing relationship between religion, politics, and society in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Islamist thought in Saudi Arabia.
