ABOUT
Yusuf Sarfati is an associate Professor of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, where he teaches comparative politics of the Middle East. At Illinois State University, he also serves as the director of Middle Eastern and South Asian minor program. Sarfati’s research interests revolve around religious politics, social movements, politics of culture and identity, and democratization. His research appeared in various academic journals and edited volumes. Sarfati is the author of Mobilizing Religion in Middle East Politics: A Comparative Study of Israel and Turkey (Routledge, 2013). His co-edited book, The Jarring Road to Democratic Inclusion: A Comparative Assessment of State-Society Arrangements in Israel and Turkey is published by Lexington Books in 2016. He received an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the Ohio State University and a B.A. in political science and international relations from Bo?aziçi University.
