ABOUT
Alyssa Bivins is a PhD Candidate in the History Department at George Washington University. Her research interests include the history of education systems in the 20th century Levant, with a particular focus on Palestinian education development from 1948 to present. She is interested in the challenges facing the development paradigm, especially as it relates to education.
Alyssa received her BA in History and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, where she wrote her Bachelor's thesis on the development of the system of education in Palestine after the Oslo Accords. Most of her work outside of academia has been in the education field: from the U.S. Department of Education to Chicago Public School classrooms to NGOs abroad.
