ABOUT
I have been working as an assistant professor of modern Turkish language and linguistics, in the teaching stream at the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations of the University of Toronto since September 2020. I got my PhD in cognitive sciences with a major in linguistics and a minor in psychology from Middle East Technical University. My research interests include Turkish linguistics; language pedagogy; experimental psycholinguistics; the processing of Turkish morpho-syntax by mono-, bi-, and multilingual speakers; and Turkish as a foreign and heritage language. I have taught and carried out research at various universities including Harvard, the University of Oslo, the University of Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle, and the Middle East Technical University, Bilkent, Hacettepe, and Ufuk Universities in Turkey. I am passionate about teaching Turkish and studying how individuals produce, comprehend, use, and learn this language.
