ABOUT
SherAli Tareen is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Frankln and Marshall College PA; he received his PhD in Islamic Studies from Duke University. His work focuses on Muslim reform movements in 19th century North India and on Hindu-Muslim relations in colonial India. He is currently working on a book project entitled "Islam and the Ethics of Authenticity: Tradition, Innovation, and Heresy" that explores intra-Muslim polemics on the limits of "heretical innovation" in South Asian Islam.
