ABOUT
Sandrine Gamblin is an assistant professor of Political Science, and director of the Middle East Studies Center, at the American University in Cairo. Before joining AUC, S. Gamblin worked for the French foreign affairs ministry, at the French University in Egypt.
Gamblin holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (Middle East Studies), from Science Po Paris. Her thesis was dedicated to the political economy of tourism and antiquities in Egypt, with a specific focus on the region of Luxor. She has also studied and published on electoral process and political transition in Egypt and the Middle East. She has extensively lived and worked in the region. As a researcher, she has been associate to the Centre d’Etudes et de Documentation Economiques et Juridiques (CEDEJ). As a consultant, she worked with international agencies, such as the UNDP, USAID and the International Crisis Group. As an assistant professor, she taught Political Science and Middle East Studies in Lebanon and Egypt.
