ABOUT
I am a second-year MA student in the Global Studies Department at the University of California in Santa Barbara. I grew up in Egypt, in the same neighborhoods where mahraganat artists emerged, before I migrated to New York City, where I got my BA in Psychology. I now research and write about Egyptian Mahraganat artists, their struggles, and their resilience and I attempt to compare Mahraganat and Brazilian Funk.
