Kelly is a Ph.D. student in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures at the University of Texas at Austin. Her current research focuses on the emergence of modern children's media in Pahlavi Iran, 1950s-1970s. She has taught Persian at the intensive elementary and intermediate levels, and has taught the history of the modern Middle East (1798-2011).
