Colette Apelian teaches art history at Berkeley City College in Berkeley, California; and is an affiliated scholar at the Centre Jacques Berque in Rabat, Morocco. Topics of her research include urban and architectural histories and visual cultures in modern and contemporary Morocco. She is has previously published on amateur photography and the electrical infrastructure of the French colonial Fez madina.
