ABOUT
Dr. Abed Kanaaneh is a senior lecturer at the Department of Middle Eastern and African History at Tel-Aviv University. Previously he was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Minerva Stiftung at the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies of Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2018-2020). He was also a visiting scholar in the Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department at Columbia University, NY.(2017-2018). In 2017, Dr. Kanaaneh completed an award-winning dissertation“Hizballah in Lebanon: Al-Muqawamah (Resistance) as a Contra-HegemonicProject” at Tel Aviv University. He holds a BA. in Political Science and Communication, an MA in Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies from Tel Aviv University. His research interests include Shiite political thought, radical Islamic movements, revolutionary thought in the Middle East, the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Marxism and neo-Marxism in the Middle East.
