ABOUT
Dr. Ammar Alsamar is an Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Arab History. Having PhD in Modern and Contemporary Arab History from Damascus University, Syria.
Previously, he worked at the Historical Documents Center in Damascus. He also worked at the Al-Furat University and Damascus University in Syria, and at the French Institute for the Near East (IFPO) in Damascus and Beirut, an academic staff member at Pamukkale University in Turkey until 2022. Besides he is a participant in the Cara Syria program since 2019.
He participated in many researches, projects and books with many institutions such as the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Qatar, UNESCO Regional Office, and Cara Syria Program.
His research interests focus on issues of modern and contemporary history in the Levant (Bilad al-sham) and Iraq, especially Syria, such as building the state and its institutions, and education. In the recent years, he has focused on issues related to the conflict in Syria, such as housing and property rights, and education in the context of the Syrian conflict.
He published a book, co-authored several books with other writers, and some reports and reviews. In addition, he arbitrated research and articles, and supervised and discussed master and doctoral theses, and he participated in many seminars and conferences.
