ABOUT
Dr.Ilay Romain Ors is an Associate Professor of Social Anthropology. She received BA degrees in Sociology and Political Science from Bogazici University Istanbul, an MSc degree in Social Anthropology from University College London, an MPhil and PhD degree in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University. Her dissertation work was on the Greek Orthodox community of Istanbul (Rum Polites) in Athens, which has been published in revised form as "Diaspora of the City: stories of cosmopolitanism from Istanbul and Athens" (Palgrave 2018). She is currently based in Greece, where she is undertaking research on Aegean migrations, funded by ISRF and under contract by Berghahn Publishers. Ors is a research affiliate at Oxford University's Centre on Migration, Policy and Society and a teaching associate at American College of Greece. Her research interests include migrations, minorities, urban studies, political movements, and cultural identities in Greece and Turkey.
