ABOUT
SalahDine Hammoud Ph.D., Texas at Austin,1982) is professor of Arabic in the Departement of Foreign Languages at the U.S.Air Force Academy in Colorado. He has taught all levels of Arabic there since 1994 after a 10 year tenure at the Defense Language Institute where he served as faculty and staff development, curriculum specialist and Arabic language instructor. While receving graduate training, he taught Arabic at the University of Texas at Austin (1973-74 & 1978-82). He held other teaching and administrative positions in the U.K., Saudi Arabia and in his native Morocco. He is past board member and president of the American Association of Teachers of Arabic, past Arabic Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organization, and board member for Arabic for the National Middle East Language Resource Center, AMIDEAST, and the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers. Fellowships and awards include Fulbright Scholar(Qatar 2010) National Foreign Language Center (2003)and Outstanding Air Force Academy Educator (Languages Dept, 1996). Research interests include Arabic language pedagogy, Arabic sociolinguistics, language policy and language planning, study abroad, teacher preparation and development.
