ABOUT
Nicholas Mangialardi is a scholar of Arabic literature and music whose research focuses on modern Egypt. He is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Arabic Arabic Studies at Williams College, where he teaches courses in Arabic language and culture. His work explores conceptions of modernity, heritage, and national identity through the lens of twentieth-century Arab music. He has published articles in the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication, the UCLA Ethnomusicology Review, ArabLit Quarterly, and Smithsonian’s Folklife magazine. He has previously taught at Georgetown University and Macalester College.
