ABOUT
Marjan Moosavi is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies. She won Iran’s National Fadjr Theatre Festival Special Acting Award (1989) and Iranian Women’s Theatre Festival Award for her research on “Gender Dynamics” in plays by Iranian women playwrights (2009). Marjan is originally from Iran, but her life, work, and studies have taken her across Iran, US and Canada. Her professional work is rounded out with dramaturgy, dramatic translation, project-based arts research and sessional work as an instructor. She has articles on Iranian dramaturgy and Iranian theatre festivals published in Routledge Companion to Dramaturgy and TDR (The Drama Review). Marjan has also lectured in various conferences on contemporary Iranian theatre. She has recently joined the global editorial team of TheTheatreTimes.com as Regional Managing Editor for Iran. Her current studies focus on Iranian theatre’s interventions in culture and politics.
