Students and Host Families in CLS Arabic Programs
Abstract
Homestays arrangements are considered a key factor in maximizing students’ cultural and linguistic gains in study abroad programs. However, there have been only few studies conducted on this component. This study examines both the host families and the students’ perspective on adjustment and homestay advantage in three CLS Arabic programs. Moreover, it offers a look at how students are perceived from the perspective of their families as well as how families change because of hosting American students.
